Teaming Up with Dark Horse & Hasbro for the Ultimate G.I. JOE Classified Archive

A Passion Project Built with the Community

When Total Toy Books was founded, the core mission was always clear: create high-end, beautifully produced art and reference books by fans, for fans. Whether celebrating vintage toy lines or documenting pop-culture history, every project has been driven by a passion for the collecting community and respect for the craft.

Today, Total Toy Books is thrilled to share a major milestone.

Brian Hickey has joined forces with the amazing teams at Dark Horse Books and Hasbro to write and curate the official G.I. JOE: The Definitive Visual Guide to the G.I. JOE Classified Series (2020–2025).

While Total Toy Books traditionally operates as an independent publisher, this project represents an exciting collaboration where Brian brings his expertise to a major global licensor and publisher.

Hasbro has frequently described their Classified Series line as being made "by fans, for fans"—and that exact ethos sat at the very heart of how this volume was crafted. Bringing together a comprehensive 336-page visual archive of this scale was a collaborative effort involving fellow collectors, good friends, and the hugely talented, supportive teams at both Dark Horse and Hasbro.

From high-resolution figure photography and packaging artwork to invaluable insights from the line's original artists, designers, and art directors, this book stands as a labor of love and the ultimate tribute to five years of the Classified line.
